Swidnica Fair50 exhibitors from Poland and abroad took part in XIV International Swidnica Fair (September 22nd-24th), which take place under the patronage of the minister of economy-Mr. Piotr Woźniak. On the stands on the Swidnica Market, the exhibitors presented themselves in thematic domains like: industry, business, tourism, sport, associations, craft, trainings, and non-governmental organizations. The program was accompanied by the: „Craft Park” – a presentation of a rich offer of a local craft, Job Centre (September 28th-29th) and Cooperation (October, 7th). As part of the Fair, in the seat of the Sudety Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Swidnica, there took a place a TV discussion panel titled „ Partnership of Towns of the Central Europe- Towards the Efficient Workers Mobility” - „Workers Mobility – a chance or a threat”. Among the participants, there was Mr. Marek Zuber, the main economist of IDM S.A., an economical advisor for the former Prime Minister Mr. Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz. During the Fair there were awarded economical prizes „Swidnica Griffin”. A wide range of cultural events (e.g. a Folk Feast of Nations, a Feast of a Roast Boar) accompanied the Fair. There also took place presentations of the artistic groups from Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, and Greece, as well as numerous artistic animations.
An opening of the Fair took place in the seat of the Sudety Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Swidnica, and the host of the Town – the president, Mr. Wojciech Murdzek, made an introductory speech. Following, Mr. Janusz Szostak – a representative of the second coorganizer, i.e. the NOT organization- took out the chairmanship. Together with the chairman of the Sudety Chamber of Industry and Commerce – Mr. Ryszard Sobanski – they presented prizewinners of the Świdnica Griffin. The jury chapter members of the „Swidnica Griffin”, including: Mr. Wojciech Murdzek, the President of the Swidnica town, Mr. Janusz Szostak, the Chairman of the Association of Swidnica Traders and Entrepreneurs and the chairman of the Świdnica Council of the Federation of Scientific-Technical Associations of NOT, Mr. Tomasz Kosciow, the Director of the Sudety Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Leszek Buchowski, Director of the Sudety Association of the Economic Initiatives, Mr. Artur Janicki, Director of XIV International Swidnica Fair, and Mr. Waldemar Skorski, Director of the Department of Economic Development of the Municipal Office in Swidnica, nominated entrepreneurs in six different categories for the economical prize „Swidnica Griffins 2006”.
In the category „Regional product” nominated were: Table Porcelain Factory„Karolina” ltd. from Jaworzyna Slaska, Chocoffee s.c. from Swidnica, P.P.H. POLITECH ltd. in the category „Investment of the year” the chapter pointed out only one nominee – A telephony Centre ELTECH ltd. from Swidnica. Third category - „Dynamic development of the company” had three nominees: Kott Metal ltd., THT ltd., JARPAK – a Producer of Cardboard Packagings. For the „Innovation” nominated were: SONEL S.A., THT ltd., Remy Automotive Poland ltd. In the category „A company environment-friendly” nominated were: MZEC Swidnica ltd., „GALESS”, IMP Comfort ltd. A special prize of the President of the Swidnica town was awarded to the Electrolux Poland ltd.
The rules of the competition anticipated that along with the „Swidnica Griffin” statuette, the prizewinner of a given category will get a right to use a logo „Swidnica – a market with traditions” for the advertisement and promotional purposes, and a right to be promoted in all promotional and advertisement materials of the Municipal Office in Swidnica.
After a long discussion, the chapter chosen following companies: in the category „Regional product” the Table Porcelain Factory„Karolina” ltd. from Jaworzyna Slaska; in the category „Investment of the year” a telephony Centre ELTECH ltd. from Swidnica; in the category „Dynamic development of the company” had three nominees: Kott Metal ltd, in the category „Innovation” the Remy Automotive Poland ltd. in the category „A company environment-friendly” the „GALESS” company.
The chapter decided also to award the statuette of „Swidnica Griffin” designed by the famous Świdnica's artist - Mr. Andrzej Andrzejewski, to two companies awarded in 2005 in the category „Regional product”: P.P.H.U. "M&J" Sp. J. for the delicious Swidnica Mayonnaise, and in category „Fair–play company” - IMP Comfort ltd.
The chapter members, apart from congratulations, emphasised that each of the nominated companies made a mark in an unprecedented way in Swidnica's economic landscape in 2006.
Another point of the Swidnica Fair was a TV discussion panel titled „ Partnership of Towns of the Central Europe- Towards the Efficient Workers Mobility” - „Workers Mobility – a chance or a threat”.
